Terms of use

Last updated: 4 October 2026.

In short. Odotur helps you keep a driving log. It is not tax advice and is not affiliated with any tax authority: what goes in your log, and whether it meets the rules that apply to you, is your responsibility. The first 3 trips are free; Odotur Pro is a one-time purchase through the App Store or Google Play. Your trips are never locked, Pro or not.

1. These terms

These terms apply when you use the Odotur app (bundle id com.benbasha.odotur), published by Ben Basha (odotur@benbasha.com). On iPhone, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; on Android, Google Play's terms apply to the download and purchase. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control. Where these terms and the store's terms disagree, the store's terms win.

2. What Odotur is, and isn't

  • Odotur is a tool for recording trips and producing a driving log. It records what your phone measures and what you enter, and calculates from it.
  • It is not tax, legal or accounting advice and it is not affiliated with any tax authority. Rules depend on your situation; check with your employer, accountant or the tax authority.
  • Reference rates are the official rates for the year shown, from the source shown in the app. When the app's rate table is older than the current year, it says "rate for <year> not updated yet" instead of reusing an old rate. Amounts are a calculation, not an entitlement.
  • Counters (for example private km against a threshold) show the official threshold as a label. They are not an assessment of your tax position.
  • Each country profile supports specific uses, listed in the app under About. Uses marked "not supported" are not covered by the app.
  • Norway: an employer may require its own electronic kjørebok for its employees. Odotur is a personal log and reiseregning aid, not an employer-administered electronic kjørebok.

3. Your logbook is your responsibility

You are responsible for your driving log and for how you use it. In particular:

  • Check what you log. GPS distances can be inaccurate, a trip can end later or earlier than you parked, and the phone can stop the app during a trip. Review trips, end times and km, and correct them in the app where needed.
  • Fill in what your rules require, such as purpose, business partner, route and odometer readings, and on time. The app's checklist and warnings are help, not a complete list of requirements.
  • Decide whether the log is suitable for your employer, accountant or tax authority, and for the method you use (for example the Fahrtenbuchmethode in Germany or the 500 km rule in the Netherlands).
  • Keep your records. There is no cloud copy. Make backups and keep the exports you hand in for as long as your country requires. Deleting the app, Delete everything, restoring a backup over existing data, or losing your phone can remove your log for good.
  • An export is a copy at a moment in time: the as-of time is printed on it.

4. Safe use while driving

Don't handle your phone while driving. Start a trip before you set off, or use the widget, Siri or Shortcuts only where it is legal and safe. Classify trips after you have stopped. Follow traffic law at all times.

5. Free version and Odotur Pro

  • Free: 3 saved trips in total (GPS, manual or from a possible drive). The limit is shown before you start, on the home screen and on the Pro screen. A trip that is already recording always finishes and is saved, even past the limit.
  • Odotur Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase: US$9.99 in the United States, or the local price shown by your store before you buy. It is not a subscription and there is no automatic charge. Pro adds unlimited trips, the country PDF report, possible drives and Android driving prompts, several cars and employers, and saved places and frequent routes.
  • Never locked: a trip that is recording and its Stop, Undo and Continue; every saved trip (view, edit, void, correct, history); CSV export; backup and restore; odometer reconciliation; restoring a purchase; and Delete everything.
  • The purchase is made with Apple or Google, under their terms. Payment, receipts, taxes and refunds are handled by that store. For a refund, use the store's own process (Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com; Google Play: your order history). Your consumer rights for digital purchases, including any right of withdrawal, apply through the store under its terms.
  • Purchases belong to the store you bought from: buying on iPhone does not unlock Pro on Android, or the other way round. Restoring a purchase on a new device is free, with the same store account.
  • If a purchase is refunded, Pro features for creating new things (new trips beyond the free limit, new cars, places or PDF reports) stop. Everything you already logged stays, with all its data and controls.
  • We may change the price or contents of Pro for future buyers. That never takes away a purchase you already made.

6. Your data

Your log is stored on your phone, not on a server of ours, so we can't recover it if it is lost. The privacy policy explains what the app stores and sends.

7. Fair use

Don't use the app for anything unlawful, to create a false record, or to mislead an employer or authority. Don't try to get around the purchase, and don't copy, resell or redistribute the app.

8. Updates and availability

Rate tables are updated with app updates. We may change, improve or remove features in future versions. Operating-system restrictions, battery settings, permissions or store rules can affect recording, widgets, Live Activities, Shortcuts and notifications; those are outside our control. Maps, address lookups and route suggestions are provided by Apple or Google and may be unavailable or imprecise.

9. Warranty and liability

We build Odotur carefully, but we can't promise it is free of errors or that every trip is recorded or measured exactly. Except where the law where you live says otherwise, the app is provided as it is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including tax assessments, lost allowances, rejected logs, fines or lost data. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Nothing in these terms limits your mandatory consumer rights.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer law of your country of residence says otherwise.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update the app and these terms. If a change matters, we update this page and the date at the top; continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms. A change never takes away a Pro purchase you already made.
